Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend our neighborhood pool opened. As the custom goes, our kids "had" to be the first in. So we waited outside the gate until 9:58am. Jim had Sam put the key in at that point. At 9:59am, Michael turned the key and opened the gate. At 10am our three and two neighbor girls who were with us lined up alongside the pool's edge and gave the countdown to jump in. Michael and one of the neighbor girls didn't make the jump. (Were they waiting to see if the other three outlived the SHOCK of their bodies being submerged in the cold water?!!?) They all eventually made it in the pool...which was freezing. Jim and I were content to read our books and avoid the frigid water. No pics...my camera battery was dead.

We hit up a couple picnics this weekend and took in a movie. On Monday it was overcast and chilly, so we decided to head to the ballpark and watch the Royals play. They Royals didn't do so well, if it weren't for a run in the 8th inning, they would've been skunked! We were able to enjoy the day despite the outcome of the game. The battery was charged by then, enjoy the pics.

Lady Liberty never looked so good!
Notice the background. This is a little field within the stadium gates where kids can play a little ball during the game. There's an entire "fun zone" for kids and it was packed during the game yesterday. Does anyone watch the game anymore?

Jim and Sarah...Jim is thinking "My boys' games are more exciting than this one!!"
